LISA SOLBERG

Lisa Solberg (born in Chicago, lives and works in New York) is a contemporary, multimedia artist best known for her paintings, large-scale sculptural installations and ephemeral performances that resacrilize our relationship to the Earth. Solberg’s use of material, symbol and gesture draws on embedded, sacred truths to elevate the universal within the particular and create meaning out of unarticulated matter. Solberg received her BFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2005 and completed an Early College Summer Program in Visual Art at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001. She was a professional skier until 2006 and competed at The US Open, X-Games and other competitions with international athletes.

Solberg has exhibited at the Aspen Art Museum; the Budapest Art Factory; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Santa Monica Art Museum; Four Six One Nine; Holster Projects; MAMA Gallery; Seasons Gallery; and THIS Gallery. Public installations of her sculpture and ephemeral works have been presented in Aurora, CO; Churchill Downs, KY; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; and Yucca Valley, CA. Solberg has completed residencies including Cerámica Suro, Taxi AIR, Budapest Art Factory, Arte Studio Ginestrelle, Summit Air and Atelier am Domagpark in Munich, Germany.
